Mission Statement
To empower francophone youth facing many barriers in order to improve
their standard of living, by helping them make the most of their abilities
and to achieve their self sufficiency and individual dignity.
History
Le Centre des Jeunes Francophones de Toronto (formerly known as Le Groupe
Jeunesse Francophone de Toronto and Le Regroupement des Jeunes Filles Francophone
de Toronto) is a grass-root's organization serving francophone youth, newcomers,
refugees, youth-at-risk and youth who reside, study and live or are homeless in
the Greater Toronto Area.
Founded in 1993 by a committed group of francophone youth who wanted to change
their standard of living, Le Centre des Jeunes is recognized in the francophone
community as a leading organization for its capacity to better serve its clientele,
and its interventions on issues and challenges concerning francophone youth.

Le Centre des Jeunes offers its francophone youth a unique opportunity, through our
culturally sensitive approach, to learn and gain new skills.
- Customer Service and Cashier Training Program for young women
- Culturally Sensitivity and Employment Readiness Workshops
- Individual Cultural Assessment and Counselling
- International Employment and Entrepreneurship Projects for young women
- IKUEN - Intercultural Community Kitchen for young women
- NaZoya - Cultural discussion group for young women
- Cultural counselling group for victims of violence
- Culturally customized workshops in AIDS Prevention, Drug & Alcohol Prevention, Crime Prevention, etc.
- Mentorship Program in francophone high schools

Our Successes
- Over 300 youths found employment
- 52 youth completed Entrepreneurship Training I & II
- Entrepreneurship CD ROM materials were created
- 16 young women went to Cameroon (Africa) for two different international employment projects
- Research on Informal Prostitution was conducted amongst francophone ethno-cultural young women
- An interactive Website for francophone youth was created www.mounas.com
- Each year more than 3,500 referrals and/or accompaniments were made to appropriate services
- First provincial for francophone ethno-cultural young women in five Ontarian cities "Forum 2000: Take Care of Yourself, Take Charge of Your Future"
- Organized an anti-discrimination conference for Franco-Ontarian Youths in preparation for the World Conference Against Racism
- Part of the Canadian Youth delegation to attend the World Conference Against Racism, in Durban (South Africa)
- Taloua magazine, the first international francophone medium, produced in Toronto
- Rendez-vous Carrières - Coming together for Career : employment fair for women (october 2002); and now is an annual event for both young women and men.
- IBM donated eight computers for the Baol Baol Program
- Tam Tam Cyber Café, Internet Café for francophone youths (86 Nassau - Kensington market)
